CLASSIFICATION OF NOUN PHRASES IN MODERN ENGLISH

This article examines the classification of noun phrases (NPs) in Modern English from structural, functional, and semantic perspectives. The study explores different types of noun phrases based on their internal structure, syntactic roles, and communicative functions. Special attention is given to simple, complex, and compound noun phrases, as well as their role in discourse. The research adopts a descriptive and analytical approach, drawing on examples from contemporary English usage. The findings demonstrate that noun phrase classification is essential for understanding sentence structure, meaning construction, and language use in both theoretical and applied linguistics.
