Abstract

National holidays constitute an essential component of cultural identity and social cohesion within every nation. In England, holidays serve not only as occasions for celebration but also as reflections of historical traditions, religious beliefs, social values, and national consciousness. This article examines the representation of national holidays in English culture, focusing on their historical development, symbolic meanings, and cultural significance. The study explores major English holidays such as Christmas, Easter, New Year's Day, Guy Fawkes Night, Remembrance Day, and St. George's Day. Through a cultural and comparative analysis, the article demonstrates how these celebrations preserve national heritage while adapting to contemporary social changes. The findings reveal that English holidays function as powerful cultural markers that strengthen collective memory and reinforce national identity.
