Abstract

Speech manners, or the ways in which language is used in social interactions, are closely linked to both linguistic conventions and cultural norms. They reflect social hierarchies, interpersonal relationships, and cultural expectations of politeness, respect, and appropriateness. This article explores the linguistic and cultural aspects of speech manners, analyzing how speech patterns, politeness strategies, and stylistic choices are influenced by cultural context. The study emphasizes that understanding speech manners requires not only knowledge of language structure but also awareness of social and cultural conventions. Comparative examples from English and Uzbek are provided to illustrate cross-cultural similarities and differences in communicative behavior.
